Bradley I. Black, 57, of Carmel, IN passed away November 16, 2016 at his home. He was a long-time member of the Carmel community and Grace Church. Brad is survived by his son, Jetson David Black, his sister, Stacey Emily Black, of Crawfordville, FL, and his former wife, Mary Moy Black. Brad was born in Plainview, NY and later his family moved to South Florida where he graduated from Coconut Creek High School and then from the University of Tampa in 1980, cum laude, with a degree in Psychology. While at UT, Brad led the establishment of a literary magazine, Quilt, in which he contributed poems and fiction. He attended the University of Cincinnati graduate school before moving into business management and sales including Hardees Restaurants, American Business Machines, and various mortgage brokerage firms, including two that he owned. He was most-recently employed by Ruoff Mortgage Company. His greatest joy was his eleven-year-old son, Jetson, who he taught, coached, and played with in soccer, football, baseball, and taekwondo. Brad was an avid cyclist and with his bicycle club, Nebo Ridge, did many rides each year across Indiana. He was predeceased in life by his father, Charles; brother, David; and mother, Corinne. He will be missed deeply by his many friends, business associates, extended family to whom he was generous, loyal, and faithful, and most especially by his son, Jetson. Their love will live forever in his heart and all those who shared and witnessed it.
In lieu of flowers, a tuition fund has been set up for Jetson’s college education. If you are interested in donating, checks can be made out to: Jetson Black Tuition Fund and sent to: Jetson Black Tuition Fund at Old National Bank, Attn: Jetson Black Tuition Fund, 9765 E. 116th Street, Fishers, IN 46037.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
